Game Overview
Luigi’s Mansion is one of those games that shouldn’t work but totally does—who knew vacuuming ghosts could be this fun? You play as Luigi, who somehow "wins" a mansion he never even entered a contest for. Classic Luigi luck. Of course, when he shows up, the place is crawling with ghosts, Mario’s missing, and the only help comes from a mad scientist handing him a glorified haunted Hoover.
The real charm is in the little things: rattling chandeliers to shake loose coins, yanking ghosts around like a tug-of-war, or discovering that one painting hiding a secret passage. The mansion feels alive (well, undead) in a way few games pull off—every drawer, curtain, or random vase might spit out cash or a ghost. And yeah, you’ll panic the first time a portrait starts screaming at you.
The 3DS version smooths out some quirks, like coins sticking around longer, and adds Gooigi for co-op (basically Luigi if he melted). Boss fights are still weirdly creative—one’s a ghostly bowling ball, another’s a floating showerhead—and the upgrades (fire, ice, etc.) keep the vacuuming from getting stale. Just don’t forget to check behind every bookshelf. Luigi’s gonna need that money if he ever wants a mansion without skeletons in the closet.
