Marauder came out for the Atari 2600 in 1982, published by Atari itself. It was one of those games that felt right at home on the system, a straightforward action title without much fanfare but plenty of challenge. In an era when many games were built around simple, repeatable concepts, Marauder fit right in.

You control a small, blocky character moving through a series of single-screen rooms. Your goal is to find and collect a flashing power core in each room while avoiding enemy robots that patrol the area. The robots get faster and more numerous with each level, and you can temporarily become invincible by grabbing a special pickup. The pace is relentless; you are always watching the timer and planning your next move. It feels tense and urgent, especially when you are cornered with seconds left.
