Marvel Super Hero Squad: The Infinity Gauntlet came out for the Nintendo DS in 2010, published by THQ. It was part of that wave of kid-friendly comic book games that felt right at home on the handheld, colorful and straightforward without trying to be the next big cinematic experience. You got to run around as these chibi-style versions of Iron Man, Wolverine, and others, which was a fun change from the usual gritty takes.
You control a team of two heroes, swapping between them to use their specific powers against waves of enemies or to solve simple environmental puzzles. The main goal is to stop Thanos from collecting the Infinity Gems, which means beating up lots of Doombots, navigating screen-by-screen levels, and occasionally fighting bigger villains like Magneto. The combat is button-mashy and simple, the difficulty is pretty low, and it moves at a pace that never feels stressful. It feels like playing through an episode of a Saturday morning cartoon, light and silly in the best way.
