Play Maze Hunter 3-D Online
Explore maze-like dungeons, fight enemies, swing your iron bar, and search for sacred statue pieces while navigating through a first-person perspective in Maze Hunter 3-D.
Maze Hunter 3-D came out for the Sega Master System in 1987, developed and published by Sega. It was one of the few games that used the system's optional 3-D glasses accessory, which gave it a unique, if somewhat gimmicky, place in the library. At the time, it stood out as an attempt to bring a first-person perspective into the action-adventure genre on an 8-bit console, even if the execution was rough around the edges.
You control a warrior exploring a series of maze-like dungeons from a first-person view, moving screen by screen. Your main goal is to find pieces of a sacred statue hidden throughout the levels while fighting off enemies that respawn if you leave and re-enter a room. Combat is simple; you swing your weapon, an iron bar, at close range, and you also break crates and barrels hoping to find keys or health. The pacing is slow and deliberate, partly because the 3-D effect can cause eyestrain and the mazes are repetitive. It feels clunky and dated now, but there's a stubborn charm in pushing through the frustration to map each area by memory.
