Game Overview

Medarot Cardrobottle - Kuwagata Version is one of those weird little Game Boy Color games that somehow sticks with you. At first glance, it's just another card battler, but then you realize every card is a piece of a Medabot—like someone took your childhood robot-collecting obsession and turned it into a surprisingly tactical card game.

The beetle-themed bots in this version (Kuwagata means stag beetle, which explains all the horned robot designs) give it a fun twist. Early on, you're just slapping down random parts, but after a few matches, you start seeing how arms, legs, and heads combo together. The pixel art has that chunky GBC charm, and there's something weirdly satisfying about watching your mismatched robot cards duke it out.

It's not perfect—the menus feel a bit clunky now, and some translations are rough—but the strategy holds up. You'll catch yourself muttering "should've led with the missile arm" after a close loss. If you ever spent lunch breaks trading Medabots or just miss late-'90s tactical oddities, this one's a solid time capsule.
