Game Overview

MediEvil Resurrection came out for the PlayStation Portable in 2005, developed by SCE Cambridge Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was a time when handhelds were really pushing 3D action, and this game fit right in with its spooky, cartoonish style. It's a remake of the original PlayStation title, but with some changes to level design and added content.

You control Sir Daniel Fortesque, a clumsy, reanimated knight, as he fights through hordes of monsters across Gallowmere. Your main goal is to defeat the evil sorcerer Zarok by clearing screen by screen areas, solving environmental puzzles, and collecting souls to power up. Combat involves using a variety of weapons like broadswords and crossbows, each with their own timing and range. The pacing is methodical, with some backtracking and light exploration, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in certain sections. It feels like a campy, slightly janky adventure that doesn't take itself too seriously.
