Menzoberranzan came out in 1994 for MS-DOS, developed by Strategic Simulations, Inc. It was part of a wave of early 90s computer RPGs that tried to bring the feel of tabletop Dungeons & Dragons to the screen. The game drops you into the infamous drow city from R.A. Salvatore's novels, a place full of political intrigue and lethal backstabbing, all rendered in that chunky, colorful VGA style typical of the era.
You control a party of up to six adventurers, navigating the city and its surrounding caverns screen by screen. Your main goal is to survive the machinations of the great houses, complete quests, and ultimately escape the Underdark. Combat is turn-based, with detailed action selection for each character, and you'll spend a lot of time managing equipment, spells, and faction reputations. The pace is deliberate, the difficulty is significant, and every corridor could hide a deadly trap or a patrol of hostile drow. It feels like a tense, methodical crawl through a beautiful and very dangerous web.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
