Game Overview

Metal Fight was a late NES release, developed by a small studio called Micronics and published by American Sammy. It came out in 1990, a time when many players were already moving on to the 16-bit consoles, so it felt like a gritty, overlooked piece of that transitional era.

You control a pilot who commandeers a large combat mech, moving through side-scrolling industrial and alien environments. Your main goal is to survive each stage, defeat the boss, and move forward. The signature mechanics involve collecting power-ups by physically fighting other enemy pilots outside your mech; if you lose those brawls, you're stuck with weak default weapons. The screen scrolls automatically, forcing you to keep pace under heavy enemy fire, and the difficulty is punishing, with aggressive enemies and limited continues. It feels like a constant, desperate struggle for every inch of progress.
