Sneak through jungles in Costa Rica, Fulton-extracting enemy soldiers to build your mercenary army between missions—those comic-style cutscenes hit different after Snake hears a voice that shouldn’t exist.
Game Overview
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker picks up after Snake Eater, with Big Boss (still going by Snake) running a ragtag mercenary group in Colombia. The story’s got that classic MGS mix of political intrigue and personal demons—Snake’s haunted by The Boss’s death, and when a mysterious tape surfaces with a voice that sounds eerily like hers, he gets dragged into a conflict in Costa Rica. The writing’s sharp, and the comic-style cutscenes give it a unique vibe compared to other entries.
Gameplay’s pure Metal Gear—sneak, chokehold, hide bodies—but with a twist. You’re not just a lone wolf; you’re building an army. Between missions, you’re managing Mother Base, recruiting soldiers (by knocking them out and Fulton-extracting them to the sky, obviously), and assigning them to R&D, medical, or combat teams. Messing around with loadouts is half the fun—do you go in quiet with tranq pistols, or go loud with a shotgun and a backpack full of grenades?
The co-op’s where it really shines, though. Sneaking through a base with a buddy, coordinating takedowns, or just going full chaos mode when someone gets spotted never gets old. And yeah, there’s a Monster Hunter crossover because… why not? Hunting Rathalos with rocket launchers is as ridiculous as it sounds.
It’s one of those PSP games that makes you forget you’re playing on a handheld. Just don’t expect the usual cinematic cutscenes—this one’s all about that tactical, almost RPG-like progression between missions.
