Game Overview

I first played Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on the PlayStation Portable back in 2010, developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami. It was one of those games that really pushed what the PSP could do, with a surprisingly deep story and mechanics that felt ambitious for a handheld at the time. The game picks up after the events of Snake Eater, following Big Boss as he builds his own private military force in 1970s Costa Rica.

You control Snake, sneaking through military bases and jungles, using camouflage and silenced weapons to avoid detection. Your main goal is to investigate a mysterious military group while building up your Mother Base by extracting soldiers and resources using the Fulton recovery system. Between missions, you manage your base, develop new gear, and even send combat units on dispatch missions to earn extra rewards. The pacing is methodical, encouraging careful planning over rushing in, and the difficulty can spike during boss fights, especially if you're under-equipped. It feels tense and rewarding to slowly build your army from the ground up, knowing every successful extraction makes you stronger.
