Play Metal Mutant Online

Pilot a clunky mech that morphs between slow tank, speedy car, and awkward flying mode—each form barely survives the grimy industrial zones full of cheap shots and pixel explosions. Feels janky until you learn its weird rhythm, then suddenly you’re pulling off dumb stunts that shouldn’t work.

Game Overview

Metal Mutant came out in 1991 for MS-DOS, developed by Silmarils. It was one of those early PC games that tried to do something different with the hardware available, blending action and exploration in a way that felt ambitious for its time, even if it didn't always run smoothly on every setup.

You control a transforming mech that can switch between three forms: a slow but sturdy tank, a faster car, and a flying mode that handles awkwardly but lets you cross gaps. The goal is to navigate through hazardous industrial environments, fighting off enemies and solving environmental puzzles to progress. The game is structured screen by screen, with a focus on careful movement and knowing when to change forms to avoid traps or engage different foes. It's notoriously difficult, with instant death pits and aggressive enemies that demand patience. Getting the hang of the transformations and learning the levels' layouts gives the whole experience a strange, clunky satisfaction.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
