Play Metaltech: EarthSiege Online
Pilot clunky walking tanks through tactical battles where terrain matters—scavenge wrecked mechs for parts, tweak your loadout, and outsmart rogue AI enemies that fight smarter than your own commanders.

I first played Metaltech: EarthSiege back in 1994, when it came out as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup from Sierra On-Line. It was a time when mech simulators were gaining traction, and this one stood out with its focus on tactical combat and persistent damage. You weren't just blowing things up; you were managing a war machine, piece by piece.
You control a HERC, a heavy combat walker, and your goal is to fight back against the Cybrids, a rogue AI army. The game emphasizes tactical movement and positioning; you have to use cover, manage your heat levels, and target specific enemy components to disable them. Scavenging wrecked mechs for salvage lets you repair and upgrade your own machine between missions, which adds a strategic layer to the action. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, and the difficulty can be punishing if you rush in. It feels like piloting a heavy, vulnerable machine where every decision carries weight.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
