Meteors is one of those MS-DOS Classic Games releases that doesn't come with a lot of fanfare or a famous developer attached, but it captures a very specific feeling from that era of computing. You boot it up, and you're immediately in a simple, functional space shooter that feels right at home next to other early PC arcade-style titles.
You pilot a small triangular ship, moving it freely around the screen to avoid incoming asteroids and enemy UFOs. Your main objective is simply to survive as long as possible, blasting the large asteroids which then break apart into smaller, faster-moving pieces. The pacing is relentless; the screen quickly fills with debris and enemy fire, demanding constant movement and precise shooting. It feels like a pure test of reflexes and spatial awareness, a tense scramble against an ever-tightening crush of obstacles.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
