Play Meteos Online
Match falling blocks by color, stack them up, and launch them off the screen in this fast-paced puzzle game for the Nintendo DS.
Meteos came out for the Nintendo DS in 2005, developed by Q Entertainment. It was one of those early DS games that really made use of the touch screen, arriving at a time when the system was still proving itself beyond just having two screens. It stood out for its sharp, abstract style and its focus on quick, tactile play.
You control a cursor to drag and match falling blocks of the same color, stacking them vertically until their combined mass ignites and launches upward off the screen. The main goal is to clear the board before it fills up, but each planet has its own gravity; some feel heavy and sluggish, while others send blocks flying with the slightest combo. Nailing a big chain reaction can make half your screen erupt in colored fire. The pace is relentless, demanding fast decisions and a good feel for how blocks will behave after a launch. It feels like conducting chaos, turning a mess of falling pieces into orderly bursts of light and motion.
