Play Metropolis Online
Start with empty land and a tight budget, zoning neighborhoods while factories make people mad and empty lots drain your cash—watch those tiny cars crawl as your city either thrives or burns.

Metropolis is a city building simulation from the MS-DOS era, originally released in 1990 by developer Softgold and publisher Maxis. It arrived at a time when simulation games were beginning to explore more complex systems, offering a focused take on urban planning without the sprawl of later titles. The game presents a clean, grid based interface where every decision carries immediate weight.
You control the city's development from an overhead perspective, zoning residential, commercial, and industrial areas while managing a limited budget. The main objective is to grow your population and maintain a functional, profitable city. Key mechanics include placing police and fire stations to control crime and disasters, adjusting tax rates to influence growth, and connecting everything with roads and power lines. The pacing is deliberate, and mistakes can lead to rapid decline if services are neglected or funds run out. It feels like conducting a stubborn orchestra, where every new building either adds to the harmony or introduces a disruptive note.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
