Play Getbackers Dakkanoku - Metropolis Dakkan Sakusen (J)(Rising Sun) Online

Dodge thugs in tight alleys, freeze them mid-swing with Ban’s Evil Eye, then switch to Ginji to fry the rest—just like the anime, but you’re calling the shots. The counters feel crisp, and that smirk when Ban lands a hit? Perfect.

Game Overview

If you ever watched GetBackers back in the day and wished you could actually be Ban and Ginji running around beating up goons and reclaiming stolen goods, this GBA game nails that vibe. You start off with a simple retrieval job—some rich guy’s prized vase or whatever—but of course, it spirals into chaos almost immediately. Thugs jump you in back alleys, and suddenly you're juggling Ban’s Evil Eye (which freezes enemies mid-punch) and Ginji’s lightning attacks while trying not to get cornered.

The combat’s surprisingly smooth for a GBA brawler—no clunky button-mashing here. You actually have to time counters and switch between characters depending on the situation. And yeah, the pixel art holds up, especially when Ban’s smirk fills the screen before he lands a critical hit. It’s got that early 2000s anime aesthetic, all dramatic close-ups and flashy super moves.

Fair warning: some of the mission puzzles can get weirdly specific (why did I need to lure that guard with a sandwich?), but figuring them out feels satisfying. If you’re into side-scrollers with a little more strategy than usual, this one’s a blast. Just don’t blame me when you start muttering "We’ll get it back!" under your breath.
