MicroLeague Baseball came out in 1984 from MicroLeague Sports Association, one of those early MS-DOS games that tried to bring a serious baseball simulation to home computers. It wasn't about flashy graphics or arcade action; it was for people who wanted to dig into the strategy of the sport, back when a lot of games were still figuring out how to represent real-world sports on a screen.
You manage the entire team, setting lineups, calling pitches, and making substitutions. The main objective is to out-strategize the computer or another player inning by inning. Signature mechanics include choosing the exact type and location for every pitch and deciding when to steal a base or substitute a pinch hitter. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, as you analyze matchups and anticipate outcomes. It feels like you are actually running the game from the bench, making every decision count.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
