Game Overview

This Amiga game is based on Anna Popkess' book—which actually came bundled with it—and it’s one of those old-school interactive fiction adventures where you type commands and hope you don’t get stuck. The world’s a grim, post-apocalyptic mess: guards with too much power, mutant thugs everywhere, and executions handed out like parking tickets. And then there’s Robin, an 11-year-old kid with psychic powers who gets tossed into this nightmare from the past.

You’ll spend a lot of time just trying to survive—scrounging for food, figuring out who to trust, and sneaking around a police state that doesn’t take kindly to outsiders. Some characters, like Daryl and Alison, still act like actual humans, but good luck getting them to help unless you nudge them just right. The descriptions can be vague, so you’ll want to keep the manual close (yeah, one of those games). There’s a neat little feature where you can toggle between quick or detailed object descriptions, which helps if you just want to move things along.

It’s not the easiest game to crack, but if you like dense, text-heavy adventures with a dark edge, this one’s got a weird charm to it.
