Mindfighter came out in 1988 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Penguin Software. It was one of those abstract strategy titles that felt right at home on early PCs, where simple graphics left a lot to the imagination but demanded real focus.
You control a small, blocky cursor, navigating a wireframe grid to outmaneuver a digital opponent. The goal is to trap the enemy shape by surrounding it with your own path, but the screen constantly shifts and rotates, forcing you to recalculate angles on the fly. Each level introduces new obstacles and tighter spaces, making the pace methodical yet tense. It feels like solving a spatial puzzle while someone keeps tilting the table.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
