Play MinerVGA Online
You start broke, digging through rock with a rusty pickaxe—then blow half your cash on dynamite and pray the tunnels don’t collapse. Later, you’re covered in dirt trying to impress the baker with a raw emerald.

MinerVGA came out in 1989 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a time when simple mechanics and pixelated visuals defined the platform. It was developed by an independent creator, though the exact name escapes me now, and it fit right in with other resource management and exploration titles of the era.
You control a lone miner equipped with a pickaxe, digging through soil and rock in search of gems and gold. The main goal is to gather enough wealth to upgrade your gear and eventually escape the mine. Key mechanics include screen by screen excavation, managing limited inventory space, and avoiding cave-ins triggered by careless digging. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense, as you weigh the risk of each swing against potential reward. It feels like a race against your own dwindling supplies and the unstable earth around you.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
