Monster Truck Wars came out for the Game Boy in 1990, published by Electro Brain. It was one of those early portable attempts to capture the spectacle of big, noisy vehicles on a small, silent screen. You pick from a few different monster trucks, each with slightly different handling, and then you just try to survive the courses.

You control your chosen truck through a side view obstacle course, racing against a clock. The main goal is to complete each track without totaling your vehicle or running out of time. Key mechanics include jumping over gaps and piles of cars, using a turbo boost for big air, and carefully managing your damage meter from hard landings. The game is fairly unforgiving; a bad jump can wreck your suspension and end a run. It feels like a constant battle against the physics of your own clumsy truck.
