Game Overview

Mutarium came out in 1997 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Fusion Software. It was one of those late-era DOS titles that really pushed what you could do with strategy and customization on that platform, right before everything shifted toward Windows.

You control a squad of customizable mechs, assembling them from parts you scavenge between missions. The main goal is to survive increasingly difficult tactical battles against enemy constructs. Key mechanics include screen-by-screen exploration of hazardous environments, turn-based combat where positioning and line of sight are critical, and managing your limited inventory of mechanical components. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be punishing if you don't plan your moves carefully. It feels tense and deeply strategic, especially when your carefully built machine finally falls apart in a shower of sparks and scrap.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
