Crawl through dense jungle with nothing but pixelated shadows for cover—every rustling bush could mean an ambush, and saving often is the only way to survive those brutal firefights.

Nam 1965-1975 was released in 1991 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Maxis. It arrived during a period when strategy and simulation games were gaining complexity on personal computers, offering a more grounded, squad-based take on conflict rather than the arcade shooters common at the time.
You command a small team of soldiers through top-down, turn-based missions set in Vietnam's jungles and villages. Your main objective is to complete assigned operations, like rescuing prisoners or destroying enemy supplies, while keeping your squad alive. Signature mechanics include careful movement across grid-based maps, managing limited ammunition and medkits, and using cover to avoid enemy fire. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense; mistakes are punished quickly, and the fog of war means you rarely have full visibility. It feels like a constant test of patience and tactics, where survival often depends on cautious advances and knowing when to fall back.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
