Game Overview

NASCAR Racers came out on the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Crawfish Interactive and published by THQ. It was part of that wave of tie-in games based on animated shows, and it stood out for trying something a little different with the racing genre on a handheld. The hardware was limited, but it made the most of what it had.

You pick one of the show's drivers and race on twisting, multi-level tracks. The main goal is straightforward: finish first. The big twist is that your car can transform, adding wings to glide over gaps or diving underwater in certain sections. You also collect power-ups mid-race, like turbo boosts or weapons to slow opponents. The pace is fast, and some tracks demand sharp timing for the transformation sequences. It feels chaotic and inventive, especially for a licensed racer from that era.
