Game Overview

NBA Live '97 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1996, published by Electronic Arts. It was one of the later basketball titles on the SNES, arriving as the console generation was winding down, but it still managed to capture the energy of mid-90s NBA action without overcomplicating things.

You control all five players on your chosen team, working to outscore the opponent within four quarters. Signature mechanics include the turbo button for quick bursts of speed, alley-oop passes for flashy finishes, and a straightforward shot meter that rewards good timing. The pacing is fast, with a noticeable arcade feel that keeps matches from dragging, and while the AI can put up a fight, it rarely feels unfair. It feels responsive and immediate, like you're right in the middle of a back-and-forth game.
