Need for Speed Carbon on the DS is one of those racers that actually feels fast on a tiny screen. You start by picking a car—nothing too fancy at first, just enough to get you into the underground street races. The city’s split into zones, and you’ve gotta take them over one crew at a time, which means a lot of tight corners and close calls with cops.
What I like is how the upgrades actually matter. Slap on a new turbo, and you’ll feel the difference when you’re barely scraping past a rival at the finish line. The drift races are a little slippery, but once you get the hang of it, weaving through traffic at night with the cops on your tail is weirdly satisfying. Just don’t expect the graphics to blow you away—it’s a DS game, after all.
