Race through the streets, conquer territories, win events, and outsmart rival crews while dodging cops in Need For Speed Carbon - Own The City on Nintendo DS.
Need for Speed Carbon: Own the City came out for the Nintendo DS in 2006, published by Electronic Arts. It was part of that wave of handheld racers that tried to squeeze console-style action onto the dual screens, back when carrying a full racing game in your pocket still felt like a novelty. The game doesn't try to hide its ambitions; it wants to give you a condensed version of the street racing life, right there on the smaller screen.
You control an up-and-coming street racer aiming to dominate the city by taking over territories from rival crews. The main objective is to conquer each city district, one zone at a time, by winning events and overpowering the local crew leaders. Signature mechanics include using the touch screen for nitrous boosts and performing drift and draft maneuvers to fill your crew meter, which lets you call in wingmen for tactical advantages during a race. The pacing is aggressive, with police chases that escalate quickly if you draw too much attention. It feels tense and immediate, especially when you're weaving through traffic at high speed with cops on your tail and your nitrous running low.
