Need for Speed: Most Wanted on the DS is basically the handheld version of that classic street racing chaos—cops chasing you, rivals trying to take you down, and a whole city that’s basically your illegal racetrack. The graphics are obviously scaled back from the console versions, but the sense of speed is still there, especially when you’re weaving through traffic with cops right on your tail.
You start off with a basic ride, but after a few races, you’ll unlock better cars and upgrades. The customization isn’t as deep as the bigger versions, but tweaking your car’s performance still makes a difference when you’re trying to outrun the cops or smoke some rival racer. The AI can be brutal sometimes—one wrong turn and suddenly three cop cars are boxing you in.
It’s not perfect—some of the controls feel a little stiff, especially if you’re used to playing racing games with analog sticks. But if you want portable high-speed chases with that classic NFS vibe, this one still holds up. Just don’t expect it to be as smooth as the console versions.
