Night Shift came out in 1990 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Lucasfilm Games. It was a time when PC gaming was finding its feet with more complex stories, and this one fit right in with its odd mix of comedy and horror.
You play as a night watchman at a novelty factory, and your main goal is to survive your shift by keeping the assembly lines running and the monsters at bay. The gameplay splits between a first-person view for exploring the factory floor, screen by screen, and a separate control panel interface where you manage conveyor belts and machinery. The pacing is tense; you're constantly juggling repairs while fending off creatures with whatever tools you find, like a fire extinguisher or a mallet. It feels like a frantic, lonely struggle against a clock that's always ticking down.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
