If you've ever read Roger Zelazny's Amber books and thought, "Man, I wish I could be Corwin stumbling through shadow worlds with a sword and a grudge," this old MS-DOS game is basically that. It's half text adventure, half turn-based strategy—you'll spend as much time puzzling over royal family drama as you will carefully positioning troops in battle. The interface feels ancient now (you type commands like it's 1989), but there's something weirdly satisfying about it once you get the hang of things.
Don't expect flashy graphics—just lots of dense storytelling and tactical fights where one wrong move can leave you cursing at the screen. It nails the books' vibe though, right down to the backstabbing relatives and trippy dimension-hopping.
