Ninja Combat came out in 1990 for arcades, developed by Alpha Denshi. It was part of that wave of side-scrolling action games that filled arcades in the late 80s and early 90s, offering straightforward, cooperative ninja action without much pretense.
You control one of two ninjas, Joe or Hayabusa, and your goal is to fight through screen after screen of enemy ninjas and mythical creatures to defeat the evil Jyashin. You use a basic sword attack and can throw shurikens; collecting power-ups lets you upgrade those shurikens into more powerful versions like flaming stars. You can also pick up temporary weapons like axes for heavy damage, and sometimes defeated enemies will join you briefly as an AI partner. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the difficulty comes from the sheer number of enemies crowding the screen. It feels chaotic and simple, a solid arcade experience built for quick sessions with a friend.
