Onna Sansirou - Typhoon Gal came out in arcades in 1985, developed by Toaplan. It was part of that wave of side-scrolling action games that filled arcades in the mid-80s, offering straightforward, energetic brawling without a lot of frills.
You control a female martial artist who moves from left to right, clearing each screen of enemies before advancing. Your main attacks are punches and kicks, and you can also perform a sliding kick to take out foes low to the ground. The game is structured screen by screen; you must defeat every enemy in one area before moving to the next. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty is pretty relentless, with enemies swarming in from both sides. It feels scrappy and immediate, like you're fighting your way through a crowded street with quick reflexes and sharp timing.
