Open Season for the Game Boy Advance came out in 2006, published by Ubisoft. It was one of those many licensed games from that era, based on the animated film, and it fit right in with the platform's library of straightforward action adventures. You don't hear much about it now, but it was a solid effort for what it was.
You control Boog the bear, navigating through forest and mountain stages, breaking hunter traps and fending off armed humans. The main goal is to rescue your animal friends and disrupt the hunting season. Key mechanics include screen by screen exploration, using a basic melee attack to swat enemies, and occasionally triggering environmental interactions to clear paths. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty stays manageable, never too punishing. It feels simple and direct, a comfortable pick-up-and-play experience that doesn't overstay its welcome.
