Game Overview

Open Season on Game Boy Advance came out in 2006, published by Ubisoft. It was one of those many licensed games that filled the GBA library, based on the animated movie of the same name. The platform was home to a lot of straightforward action platformers, and this one fit right into that familiar category.

You control Boog, a domesticated bear, as he fights back against hunters who have invaded his forest. The main goal is to progress through each level, defeating hunters and freeing your captured animal friends. You throw squirrels as your primary attack, and you can also perform a ground pound to stun nearby enemies. The levels are linear, screen by screen affairs with some light platforming and simple puzzles, like moving crates to reach higher areas. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty is fairly gentle, making it accessible for younger players. It feels like a simple, chaotic brawl where you're just causing as much mayhem as a bear can.
