Oh man, Ottifanten - Kommando Störtebeker is one of those games that makes you go "what were they thinking?" in the best way possible. You play as these goofy elephant-seal pirates (yes, really) running around stealing treasure and causing chaos, and it somehow works. The first thing that hits you is how bright and cartoony everything looks—like someone took a Saturday morning kids' show and crammed it into a Game Boy.
You'll jump between ships, bonk enemies with your flippers, and solve these weird little puzzles that mostly involve throwing stuff at the right target. It's not super hard, but there's this one level where I got stuck for ages because I didn't realize you could belly-slide under a gate. Classic early 2000s Euro-platformer logic.
If you grew up with German kids' TV or just love bizarre retro games, this one's got that perfect mix of jank and charm. The music's oddly catchy too—I still hum the pirate theme sometimes. Just don't expect AAA polish and you'll have a blast.
