Trials and Tribulations came out on the Nintendo DS in 2007, developed and published by Capcom. It was part of that early DS era where touch screens felt new, and this game used the stylus well for poking around crime scenes. It's the third game in the Ace Attorney series, wrapping up a lot of story threads that started in the first two.

You play as defense attorney Phoenix Wright, investigating crime scenes and then defending your clients in court. The main goal is to find contradictions in witness testimonies by presenting evidence at the right moment. You explore locations screen by screen, talking to characters and collecting clues; in court, you cross examine witnesses and occasionally use the DS microphone to shout "Objection!" or "Hold it!". The pacing is deliberate, with some tricky logic puzzles that make you think carefully. It feels like slowly untangling a knot until everything suddenly makes sense.
