Game Overview
Picross NP Vol. 1 is one of those Japan-only SNES puzzle games that never made it overseas—which is a shame, because it’s a solid little picross title. You’ve got grids with numbers along the edges telling you which squares to fill in, and 30 minutes to crack each puzzle. Mess up, though, and the game punishes you by shaving time off the clock. It’s tense, but in a good way.
What makes this one stand out? Some of the puzzles are themed around Pokémon, which is a fun surprise if you’re into that. Nothing crazy, just some familiar sprites popping up when you finish certain grids. The rest are standard picross fare, but the time pressure keeps it from feeling too relaxed. Definitely one for fans of the genre who don’t mind a bit of a challenge.
