Play Pilotwings Online
You wobble through rings in a shaky biplane at first, then graduate to jetpack stunts and threading helicopters through tight gaps—crashing never felt this rewarding.

Pilotwings came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed by Nintendo. It was one of the early titles that really showed off what the SNES could do, especially with its Mode 7 graphics that made flat surfaces look like they were tilting and turning in 3D space. At a time when many games were still side-scrollers or top-down adventures, this one felt different; it was built around the simple joy of flight.
You control a rookie pilot through a series of flight tests, switching between different vehicles like a light plane, a hang glider, and a rocket belt. The main goal is to complete specific objectives, such as flying through rings, landing on a target, or performing aerial tricks, all while managing your altitude, speed, and fuel. The pacing is deliberate, almost meditative at times, but the physics demand precision, and a mistimed landing can send you tumbling. It feels surprisingly tactile for an early flight sim, with just enough challenge to make a clean run genuinely satisfying.
