Game Overview

Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure on SNES is one of those games that looks deceptively simple at first—just a guy running through jungles—until you realize how much weird stuff they packed in. You play as Harry Jr. (yes, the original Pitfall guy’s son), swinging on vines, dodging traps, and chucking boomerangs at bats like some kind of jungle-themed action hero. The bungee jumping parts still feel surprisingly smooth, even now.

What I love is how the levels keep switching things up—one minute you’re in a dark mine full of spiders, the next you’re hopping across crumbling ruins while a waterfall tries to drown you. It’s got that classic "die a lot, learn faster" energy, especially with the piranha pits. Not gonna lie, some jumps had me sweating back in the day. The music’s got this weirdly catchy tribal vibe too—you’ll hum it for days.

If you’re into old-school platformers that don’t hold your hand, this one’s a solid time capsule. Just watch out for the quicksand.
