Pokemon Link! came out in 2006 for the Nintendo DS, developed by Genius Sonority. It was part of that early DS wave where touchscreen puzzle games felt fresh and intuitive, a nice change of pace from the usual RPGs and platformers.
You control a stylus, tapping and dragging to connect identical Pokemon icons on a grid. The goal is to clear stages by making enough matches before time expires or space runs out. Each Pokemon type has a unique effect when linked; Pikachus cause a chain reaction, Geodudes bounce and disrupt the board, and fire-types scorch surrounding tiles. The difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding fast decisions as the screen fills up. It feels like a race against chaos, where one good combo can save you or a bad move can ruin everything.
