Play Popeye (Japan) Online
Jump around, dodge Bluto, collect hearts, and grab spinach to take him down in this classic arcade-style adventure with Popeye on NES.
Popeye for the NES came out in 1983, published by Nintendo. It was one of the early titles on the system, a straightforward arcade adaptation that felt right at home among the simple, bright games of that launch period. You don't get a complex story, just the setup from the cartoons: Bluto has taken Olive Oyl, and Popeye needs to get her back.
You control Popeye across single-screen stages, jumping between planks and avoiding Bluto. Your main goal is to collect the hearts Olive drops from above before Bluto can grab her. You can punch Bluto temporarily, but to really knock him off the screen you need to grab a can of spinach, which makes you invincible for a short time. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty ramps up steadily as objects fall faster and enemies get more persistent. It feels satisfyingly physical when you connect a punch and send Bluto spinning away.
