Power Piggs of the Dark Age is one of those weird, forgotten SNES games that makes you stop and go, "Wait, this was a thing?" It's a side-scrolling brawler where you play as armored pigs—yes, pigs—hacking through castles, dodging spike traps, and smacking around skeletons with swords. The whole thing feels like someone took Ghosts 'n Goblins, gave it a Saturday morning cartoon makeover, and replaced the knights with very determined swine.
The beta version is rough around the edges (some animations are janky, and the difficulty spikes hard), but there's something oddly charming about it. The sprites are big and goofy, the music’s got that classic SNES cheese, and the pigs grunt every time they swing a weapon. It’s the kind of game where you’ll die because you misjudged a jump, laugh at the ridiculous death animation, and immediately hit reset.
Honestly, it’s a shame this never got a full release—it’s got more personality than half the licensed platformers from the era. If you’re into obscure retro stuff, this one’s a weird little time capsule worth digging up.
