Game Overview

Power Quest is this weird little gem on the Game Boy Color that mixes RPG stuff with robot fighting. You're just some kid who gets sucked into the whole battle robot scene after school—basically, you wander around town challenging people to fights, earn cash, and upgrade your bot piece by piece. The customization's pretty fun once you get into it—you start with this clunky thing that barely moves, but swapping out arms or legs actually changes how it fights.

There's a tournament mode where you slowly climb ranks, but honestly, I spent way more time in the arcade-style fighting mode. Pick one of the six default bots and just brawl through the roster. The infrared VS mode was ahead of its time too—if you had a friend with a copy, you could actually beam your custom robot over and wreck each other. The sprites are tiny but surprisingly expressive when your bot goes flying after a punch.

It's janky in that late-90s handheld way, but there's something charming about slowly turning your scrapheap into a champion.
