Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue on the Game Boy Color is one of those games that just gets what made the show fun. You jump right in as a Ranger, punching through waves of goons in classic side-scrolling beat-'em-up style. The sprites are chunky and bright—exactly how you'd want a GBC Power Rangers game to look—and the Morpher special moves feel satisfying when you finally get to unleash them.
It’s not complicated: run left to right, mash buttons, occasionally hop into a rescue vehicle for a change of pace. But there’s a weirdly addictive rhythm to it, especially when you hit that sweet spot of chaining attacks together. Some of the enemy designs are hilariously over-the-top, like they yanked them straight from a Saturday morning episode.
