Ubisoft released Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for the Game Boy Advance in 2003. It was a solid action platformer for its time, fitting right in with the handheld's library of adventure games. You controlled the Prince through a series of interconnected rooms, each one a puzzle box of traps and enemies.
You guide the Prince through screen by screen exploration, using his acrobatics to wall run, swing on poles, and avoid deadly traps. Combat involves timing your sword slashes against sand creatures, and you can rewind time a few seconds with the Dagger of Time if you make a mistake. The main goal is to restore the Sands of Time to their hourglass, which involves navigating palace ruins and solving environmental puzzles. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty comes from precise platforming rather than overwhelming enemies. It feels satisfying to finally clear a tricky room after a few attempts.
