Play Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves Online

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves came out for the NES in 1991, developed by Sculptured Software. It was one of many movie tie-in games from that era, and it tried to capture the adventure and swordplay of the film on the console. You don't see it talked about as much as the big name platformers or RPGs from that time, but it had its own feel.

You control Robin of Locksley, starting as a prisoner who has to break free. The main goal is to gather your band of Merry Men in Sherwood Forest and ultimately defeat the Sheriff of Nottingham. The game plays screen by screen, with a lot of side-scrolling combat using your sword and, occasionally, a bow for ranged attacks. You explore forests, castles, and dungeons, collecting keys and items to progress. It's not an easy game; the enemies are persistent and the platforming can be unforgiving. Playing it feels like a constant push through resistance, where every cleared screen is a small victory.
