Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves on the NES came out in 1991, developed by Sculptured Software. It was one of many licensed games from that era, trying to capture the feel of the movie on the limited hardware. You control Robin Hood through a side scrolling world, moving screen by screen across the English countryside and into enemy strongholds.

Your main goal is to rescue Maid Marian and defeat the Sheriff of Nottingham. You use a sword for close combat and a bow for hitting distant targets or switches. Exploration involves finding keys to progress and climbing ropes or vines, which can be tricky due to the controls. The game moves at a steady pace but has some difficult platforming sections, especially in the later stages. It feels like a straightforward adventure with a few rough edges, but pushing through to the end is satisfying.
