Princess Minerva came out in 1995 for the Super Nintendo, developed and published by NCS Corporation. It was one of those late-era SNES releases that tried to blend strategy and role-playing elements, a time when developers were pushing the hardware in interesting, sometimes experimental directions.
You play as Princess Minerva herself, leading a small party through a mix of exploration and turn-based tactical combat. The goal is to reclaim your kingdom, which involves moving across an overworld map, entering towns and dungeons, and engaging enemies on a grid. Combat is methodical; positioning matters, and you have to think about flanking and terrain. Between fights, you talk to villagers for clues and manage equipment. The pacing is deliberate, and some battles can feel punishing if you rush in. Playing it feels like solving a series of small, stubborn puzzles with your sword and wits.
