Play Pro Football '93 (Japan) Online

Chunky little players, old-school play-calling—break a long TD run and that crunchy QB sack sound still hits just right. Weirdly kept all the NFL stuff despite being the Japanese release.

Game Overview

Pro Football '93 on SNES is basically the Japanese version of John Madden Football '93—same game, just with a different title screen. It's one of those early football sims where the players look like little chunky sprites, but hey, it's got that classic Madden play-calling system where you pick formations before each snap. The running game feels a bit stiff now, but back then, breaking a long touchdown run with the 49ers was pure hype.

Weirdly, the Japanese release kept all the NFL teams and logos, which makes you wonder who this was even for. Still, if you're into retro sports games, it's a fun time capsule—just don't expect modern controls. The commentary is basically just a few digitized shouts, but they nailed the "BOOM" sound when you sack the QB.
