Drive through the streets as a bootlegger in the 1920s, delivering moonshine while dodging cops and rivals in this classic MS-DOS game from 1987.
Prohibition came out in 1987 for MS-DOS, published by Infogrames. It was one of those early PC games that tried something different, putting you right in the middle of the Roaring Twenties as a bootlegger trying to make a dishonest buck. The graphics were simple, the colors limited, but it had a clear sense of place and purpose for its time.
You control a driver making illegal liquor deliveries, navigating a top-down map of city streets and rural backroads. Your main goal is to earn money by delivering moonshine without getting caught by police or hijacked by rivals. Key mechanics include managing your fuel and cash for bribes, outmaneuvering roadblocks, and sometimes engaging in simple car combat. The pacing is tense; one mistake can wipe out your cargo and end your run. It feels like a high-stakes, slightly janky road trip where every decision matters.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
