Dodge cops in a shaky Model T, juggling moonshine runs and bribes while rival bootlegers ambush you—one wrong turn and your trunk’s empty. That pixel art tension when you’re low on gas with roadblocks ahead? Perfect.

Prohibition on MS-DOS is that rare kind of old-school game where you immediately get it—within minutes, you're speeding down back alleys in a rickety Model T, crates of moonshine rattling in the trunk while cops appear out of nowhere. The pixel art somehow makes everything feel even more tense, like when you're nervously watching your fuel gauge dip as you take a risky detour past a roadblock.
What I love is how it balances strategy with pure chaos. One minute you're carefully planning liquor routes, the next you're frantically mashing keys to outrun a squad car that just rammed you into a lamppost. And those rival gangsters? They don't play fair—I lost half my earnings once because I got cocky and didn't bribe the right cop. The whole thing oozes 1920s charm, right down to the jazzy soundtrack that cuts out abruptly when you crash (which happens a lot).
It's janky in that classic DOS way, but that's part of the appeal. Just don't be surprised if you start muttering "I'll get you next time, copper" after your third failed bootleg run.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
