Project-X_Disk1 is one of those classic Amiga shooters that feels like R-Type cranked up a notch. You’ve got five levels of side-scrolling chaos where enemies come at you from every angle—some dive-bombing, others sneaking up from behind. The blue power-up tokens they drop let you pick your weapon, and there’s a real trade-off: do you go for the rapid-fire guns (solid early, but weak later), or save up for the devastating magma shot? My first run, I wasted tokens on speed boosts and regretted it when the level 2 boss wrecked me.

The levels switch up fast—one minute you’re dodging asteroids, the next you’re in some neon hive full of bullet-spitting drones. And yeah, the bosses are brutal, but at least you can restart from level 3 if you die. Best part? The built-in auto-fire actually works, so keyboard players aren’t totally screwed. Just don’t expect mercy from those homing missile swarms.
