Game Overview
Psychic World is this weird little gem on the Sega Master System where you play as a lab assistant turned psychic warrior. The setup’s goofy but charming—monsters break loose, kidnap your coworker, and suddenly you’re blasting through labs with fireballs and sonic waves like some kind of science experiment gone very right.
At first, you’ve only got a basic psychic shot, but defeated enemies drop these floating orbs that unlock new abilities. Ice beams freeze enemies solid, levitation lets you float over spikes (badly at first—expect some trial and error), and there’s even temporary invincibility that makes your character flash like a disco ball. The controls take a second to click—hold down + button 2 to swap powers mid-fight—but once it does, you’ll be juggling abilities to solve puzzles and melt monsters in equal measure.
It’s janky in that classic 8-bit way, but there’s something oddly satisfying about watching your psychic arsenal grow from "barely functional" to "absurdly overpowered" by the final boss. Just watch out for the platforming—those jumps are tighter than they look.
